Caregiver

The Caregiver position involves working with aging and disabled adults in an recreational therapy environment. This position is a key caregiver role for these clients. Employee will lead or assist with large group daily activities and will relate to all adult clients in a positive manner regardless of age or ability.  All Caregivers will collaborate with other front line staff as well as the CTRS, the ADS Program Manager and the ADS Associate Director.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain consistent interaction with all clients by creating and maintaining a good working relationship with all clients.
  • Assist in serving and clearing two meals and one snack per day.
  • Fill in as a driver to transport clients to/ from facility and outings in company van (Does not require CDL license).
  • Clean and sanitize activity areas between groups of clients.
  • Work with CTRS on leading calendared activities that assist clients with their daily goals. In addition, Program Aides will assist with set up and cleanup of all activities.
  • Assist with Intergenerational activities as needed.
  • Assist clients with Activities of Daily living as needed including walking, toileting, assisting clients on and off company vans and moving from one activity to another.
  • Maintain compliance with ADS Policies and Procedures, as well as the policies in the Neighborhood House Employee Manual.
  • Attend company wide, in person in-service training monthly.
  • Maintain professional appearance and adhere to the dress code as outlined in Neighborhood House Employee Manual
  • Be dependable and punctual in reporting for work and adhere to Neighborhood House Attendance Policy
  •  Maintain confidentiality, comply with HIPPA Laws
  • Ensure client safety and promote engagement.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Track and chart on assigned clients.
  • Communicate effectively with other staff members.
EDUCATION & TRAINING
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• CPR/ First Aid Certified
• Food Handlers Permit
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
  • Familiarity with adult day programs, is preferred, as is an understanding of the needs and challenges of aging and/or disabled adults and their families and caregivers.
  •  A demonstrated desire to care for people, including the above-referenced population, is optimal. The candidate should be solutions-oriented and able to problem solve collaboratively and independently, with minimal direction.
  • CNA, TRT or other professional licensures is a plus, but not required.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Valid Utah driver’s license Successful candidates must have a valid Utah driver’s license.
  • Should be able to be trained and drive company van up to 14 passengers.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. or more.
  • Obtain initial health exam.
  • Communicate effectively in English, with additional proficiency in Spanish or other language is a plus.
  • Pass background check and drug screening
  • Must have full vaccination for Covid-19
WORKING CONDITIONS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Hours are Monday through Friday 7:30 am to 5:30 pm and schedules are made by Day Services Manager
  • Salary $16 – $18 depending on experience and licensure.
  • Benefits for full time employees are available after 60-days of employment, and include dental, health, vision, and family/maternity leave.
  • PTO is accrued at beginning of employment and available for use after 90 days.

  • Center will be closed on major holidays as well as In Service Days as designated by Leadership.
  • Eligible for free day care services for one eligible child or adult. Additional adults or children may be enrolled at a discounted rate.
  • Breakfast, lunch and snacks are provided daily for all employees.
