This has been a crazy start to spring!  Along with the change in season, there are many opportunities for education, networking, professional development, and engagement.  Just in the next thirty days, we have the Annual Women in Business Spring Conference, the Spring Job Fair, Friday Connections for speed networking, and more.  We are partnering with the City of West Jordan on a Workforce Summit on April 12^th and just recently met with a group of local manufacturers in partnership with iMpact Utah.  In addition, we are running a gently used women’s business clothing drive for our friends at the Mujeres Unidas de Utah.  More information is available at:  Clothing Drive for Mujeres Unidas de Utah
 
There is news from the Governor’s Office of Economic Opportunity that they are increasing funding to the Utah Small Business Credit Initiative to $59 million which may be of interest to many of our businesses.
 
The Women in Business Spring Conference, scheduled for April 11^th features Utah’s First Lady Abby Cox and two time Olympic Medalist Shannon Bahrke Happe as keynote presenters.  This year’s breakout sessions feature topics on Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging; The Power of your Words; Believing, Doing, Growing, and Giving; and From Receptionist to CEO.  In addition, we will feature a panel on   Registration is available at:   Women in Business Spring Conference.
 
If you have signed up for the ChamberWest Italy Trip or are interested in learning more, join us on April 4^th at 5:30 pm for the trip orientation meeting to be held in the same building as ChamberWest but on the 5^th floor.  You can access more information on the trip at: Italy Trip Information.  If you are ready, fill out the registration information and return it to the chamber office to secure your seat(s) as we are limited to just 40 attendees.  Registration is available at: Italy Trip Registration.
 
The Spring Job Fair, in collaboration with the Granite School District, Jordan School District, SLCC, and the Utah Department of Workforce Services is scheduled for April available and Chamber members are able to participate with an employer table at no charge as a benefit of membership.  More information is available at:  Spring Job Fair.
 
We are partnering with the City of West Jordan on a Business Summit focused on workforce development.  If you are interested in learning from experts on how to attract new talent and retain and develop your workforce, register today at:  West Jordan Business Summit.
 
During the legislative session, the CW Legislative Affairs Committee reviewed over 100 bills impacting business.  Of those bills, they took positions of support on 45 bills and positions of opposition on 10.  Next week, they will be meeting with our legislators for the annual wrap up meeting following the session.  Many thanks to those serving on this very important committee and for the commitment to engage in supporting our businesses.   You can review the bill tracker at:  2023 CW Bill Tracker.
