Your membership is more than a listing in a directory—it’s a partnership. One that ensures your voice is heard and your business has the support it needs to thrive. We continue to work closely with elected officials, decision-makers, and community partners to advocate for business-friendly policies and influence the issues that matter most to you.
Federal Tax Reform: Key Business Highlights
The U.S. Senate is currently considering a bipartisan tax package that includes several high-impact provisions for businesses and families. According to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the bill includes:
- Bonus Depreciation & R&D Deductions: Extends 100% expensing for capital investments (retroactive to 2023) through 2029 and restores full, deductions for research and development expenses instead of spreading them out over five years.
- Interest Deduction Expansion: Eases limits on interest deductibility—especially beneficial for capital-intensive or debt-reliant businesses.
- Pass-Through Entity Relief: Increases and makes permanent the 199A deduction for pass-throughs, raising the deduction from 20% to 23%.
- Estate Tax Reforms: Increases the exemption to $15 million and makes it permanent.
- Individual & Standard Deductions: Locks in the 2017 individual tax rates and extended standard deduction permanently.
- Family and Workforce Incentives: Includes tax relief on tips and overtime, a $4,000 deduction for seniors, and auto loan interest deductions (through 2029).
If enacted, some of these provisions may apply retroactively to the 2023 tax year. We recommend consulting your tax advisor to assess potential impacts on your business.
Leadership Development Opportunity
Our 2024/2025 Leadership Institute cohort wraps up this month with a final session and graduation on June 12. Applications are now open for the 2025/2026 Leadership Institute program—a ten-month, high-impact experience designed to build and elevate leaders. The program launches with a two-day retreat on September 17–18 and is limited to 30 participants (maximum two per organization). Partial scholarships are available for nonprofits and small businesses with 10 or fewer employees. Learn more and apply here: CW Leadership Institute.
We want to share that John Wilson, our Director of Business Development, has officially stepped down from his position with ChamberWest, effective May 30, 2025. John and his wife, Annalys, are relocating to Southern California to be closer to family, and we fully support his decision to prioritize both professional growth and personal commitments. John will be stepping into an exciting new role as CEO of the Santa Fe Springs Chamber of Commerce. Please join us in congratulating John on this next chapter—and if you know someone who would be a great addition to our team, we welcome your recommendations as we begin the search for his replacement.
With summer officially underway, we’re grateful for your continued engagement and excited for what lies ahead. Whether you’re looking to expand your network, strengthen your team, or stay informed on policy and economic issues, ChamberWest is here to support your business every step of the way.
