We received a press release from our friends at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce regarding the Corporate Transparency Act:
 
Treasury Department Announces Suspension of Enforcement of Corporate Transparency Act Against U.S. Citizens and Domestic Reporting Companies

The Treasury Department is announcing today that, with respect to the Corporate Transparency Act, not only will it not enforce any penalties or fines associated with the beneficial ownership information reporting rule under the existing regulatory deadlines, but it will further not enforce any penalties or fines against U.S. citizens or domestic reporting companies or their beneficial owners after the forthcoming rule changes take effect either. The Treasury Department will further be issuing a proposed rulemaking that will narrow the scope of the rule to foreign reporting companies only. Treasury takes this step in the interest of supporting hard-working American taxpayers and small businesses and ensuring that the rule is appropriately tailored to advance the public interest.
 
“This is a victory for common sense,” said U.S. Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent.  “Today’s action is part of President Trump’s bold agenda to unleash American prosperity by reining in burdensome regulations, in particular for small businesses that are the backbone of the American economy.”
 
Our Legislative Affairs Committee has been actively meeting with legislators at the Utah State Capitol and locally on a weekly basis during the session. With the final official meeting for this session now complete, they remain committed to tracking and weighing in on relevant bills. We also received a press release from legislative leadership on judicial legislation and the separation of powers—topics we opposed based on their potential impact on business.

• Annual Job Fair: - April 16^th:   If you are hiring or want to get out in front of our future workforce, join us at the 2025 Job Fair from 2-6 pm at Granger High School.  Chamber members receive a complimentary employer table as part of their membership benefits.  This event is held in collaboration with the Granite School District, Jordan School District, Salt Lake Community College and the Utah Department of Workforce Services.  The event is being promoted to high school students, their families, and to the community at large for those looking for a new job/career.  To secure a table or a sponsorship, reach out to John Wilson at john@chamberwest.org or at 801-977-8755.
